Every month or so we'll post a few pictures and describe some of the events in our lives.

Soccer! Allez! Allez!
I must admit, since I do not have a boy, this is the closest I got to being excited as a father being able to pass along my boundless knowledge of sports to a child of mine. (I guess I don't know much about dancing past my expertise in Coutry Swing--Ha.) I was really proud the day she started soccer. (That wore off when I saw her dancing in her own little world more than actually chasing the ball.)

Big Trouble
It only took the gilrs 5 hours to clean up this mess. I warned them sternly to not mess with the rocks and keep them to a red tray they were playing with. Kids are kids though, so the temptation must have been too great to listen to my advice. Oh well, they paid the price by sitting there, all day long, cleaning up little tiny fish rocks off the carpet.
Karen's Pre-School
Karen's amazing. She loves to teach the 3-4 yr-old age groups so she started a pre-school. It was free at first (in which the parents still paid her $35 for "supplies"). It's a lot of work, so I told her to charge actual tuition and she has this year...begrudgingly. Anyway, out of nowhere Maya started sounding out letters and writing sentances. The first sentance she wrote was: "MomIsadbecusyou..."--basically, it wasn't a nice note, which made the event bittersweet for Karen. Proud that she taught her kid to write--yet upsetting in that the event was marked by a "sad" note.
Houston Rodeo
So we went to the Houston Rodeo again this year--but not for any concerts--only the rides.
Maya and me on the swings. This one is a family favorite because it's one of the few really fun ones that allow the girls to go on. The guy operating it was speeding it up and slowing it down so that I would slam into Maya's chair in front of me--kills the shins.

This is Maggie in the leech-eating contest. She would have won, but this photo finish shows that she never swallowed the last leech.
